Sheet Pan Grilled Cheese Sandwiches are an easy way to make multiple crispy, golden, and cheesy sandwiches at once. Perfect for feeding a crowd without standing over the stove!
Ingredients:
- 8 slices of bread (sourdough, white, or whole wheat)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, gouda, provolone, or a mix)
- 4 slices of mozzarella or Swiss cheese (optional for extra cheesiness)
Instructions:
Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
Prepare the Bread:
- Spread butter on one side of each bread slice. Place half of the slices butter-side down on the sheet pan.
Assemble the Sandwiches:
- Evenly distribute shredded cheese and sliced cheese (if using) on top of the bread slices.
- Place the remaining bread slices on top, butter-side up.
Bake:
- Cover the sandwiches with another sheet pan and place a heavy oven-safe pan or baking dish on top to press them down.
- Bake for 10 minutes, then remove the top pan and bake for another 3-5 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
Serve:
- Let cool for a minute, then slice and enjoy with tomato soup or your favorite dipping sauce!
Tips:
- Use a mix of cheddar, Swiss, and provolone for a more flavorful sandwich.
- Add extras like crispy bacon, caramelized onions, or pesto for a gourmet twist.
- For a crunchier texture, sprinkle Parmesan cheese on the buttered bread before baking.
