Sheet Pan Grilled Cheese Sandwiches: Easy and Crispy Every Time

Sheet Pan Grilled Cheese Sandwiches are an easy way to make multiple crispy, golden, and cheesy sandwiches at once. Perfect for feeding a crowd without standing over the stove!

Ingredients:

  • 8 slices of bread (sourdough, white, or whole wheat)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, gouda, provolone, or a mix)
  • 4 slices of mozzarella or Swiss cheese (optional for extra cheesiness)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Prepare the Bread:

    • Spread butter on one side of each bread slice. Place half of the slices butter-side down on the sheet pan.
  3. Assemble the Sandwiches:

    • Evenly distribute shredded cheese and sliced cheese (if using) on top of the bread slices.
    • Place the remaining bread slices on top, butter-side up.
  4. Bake:

    • Cover the sandwiches with another sheet pan and place a heavy oven-safe pan or baking dish on top to press them down.
    • Bake for 10 minutes, then remove the top pan and bake for another 3-5 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Serve:

    • Let cool for a minute, then slice and enjoy with tomato soup or your favorite dipping sauce!

Tips:

  • Use a mix of cheddar, Swiss, and provolone for a more flavorful sandwich.
  • Add extras like crispy bacon, caramelized onions, or pesto for a gourmet twist.
  • For a crunchier texture, sprinkle Parmesan cheese on the buttered bread before baking.
