Velveeta Spicy Sausage Dip: A Game Day Favorite

Velveeta Spicy Sausage Dip is a creamy, cheesy, and flavorful dip that’s perfect for game days, parties, or casual gatherings. With spicy sausage and melted Velveeta, it’s a crowd-pleaser served with tortilla chips or veggies.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound spicy Italian sausage (or breakfast sausage)
  • 1 block (16 ounces) Velveeta cheese, cubed
  • 1 can (10 ounces) diced tomatoes with green chilies (e.g., Rotel)
  • 1/2 cup milk (optional, for thinner consistency)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)
  • Tortilla chips or raw vegetables, for serving

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Sausage:

    • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage, breaking it into small crumbles, until browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess grease.
  2. Combine the Ingredients:

    • In a large microwave-safe bowl or slow cooker, combine the cooked sausage, cubed Velveeta cheese, diced tomatoes with green chilies, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  3. Melt the Cheese:

    • Microwave Method: Heat in the microwave in 1-minute intervals, stirring between each, until the cheese is fully melted and the mixture is smooth (about 5 minutes).
    • Slow Cooker Method: Set to low heat and cook for 1-2 hours, stirring occasionally, until the cheese is melted and creamy.
  4. Adjust Consistency:

    • If the dip is too thick, add milk 1 tablespoon at a time until it reaches your desired consistency.
  5. Serve:

    • Transfer the dip to a serving bowl or keep it warm in the slow cooker. Serve with tortilla chips, crackers, or fresh vegetables.

Tips:

  • For a milder version, use regular sausage instead of spicy.
  • Add cooked, crumbled bacon for extra flavor.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or on the stovetop.
