Crispy, tangy, and perfectly seasoned, Fried Pickles are a delicious snack or appetizer. Coated in a golden, crunchy batter, they pair perfectly with ranch or spicy dipping sauce!

Ingredients:

For the Pickles:

  • 1 cup sliced dill pickles (chips or spears)
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cornmeal (for extra crunch)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for spice)
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup buttermilk (or whole milk)
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

For Dipping Sauce (Optional):

  • ½ cup ranch dressing
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)

Instructions:

1. Prep the Pickles:

  • Drain the pickle slices and pat them completely dry with paper towels.

2. Make the Breading Mixture:

  • In a bowl, mix flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.

3. Prepare the Batter:

  • In a separate bowl, whisk egg and buttermilk together.

4. Coat the Pickles:

  • Dip each pickle slice into the buttermilk mixture, then coat it in the flour mixture.
  • Shake off excess and place on a plate.

5. Fry the Pickles:

  • Heat oil to 375°F (190°C) in a deep skillet or fryer.
  • Fry pickles in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove and drain on paper towels.

6. Serve:

  • Serve hot with ranch dressing or spicy dipping sauce. Enjoy!

Tips:

  • For extra crunch, double-coat the pickles by dipping them in buttermilk and flour twice.
  • For a lighter version, air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • Use panko breadcrumbs instead of cornmeal for a different texture.
